The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Public Health is a great fit for students who love science and who are passionate about using their scientific skills to address human health issues related to the built and natural environments. From water quality to workplace safety, environmental health majors are engaged in problem-solving to keep communities safe and healthy. In the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Public Health, students learn to identify, prevent and control environmental factors that can threaten human health. The coursework introduces students to basic principles of environmental health regulation, environmental sampling, microbiology, epidemiology, toxicology and risk assessment.

First-year students can apply to the UW to begin autumn quarter or winter quarter (U.S. applicants only)

Environmental Public Health is a minimum requirements major. You may declare this major after enrolling at the UW and completing the prerequisites. Visit the department website for more information.

An application for general admission to the UW is required for all transfer students. UW accepts general applications for Autumn and Winter with some select majors allowing applications in Spring. Review your intended major’s website for information about which quarters it is open for admission.

Department admission information

Transfer students may use any transferable equivalent course(s) for prerequisite coursework. Consult UW Equivalency Guide to verify transferability of coursework and meet with a departmental advisor prior to application.

Upper Division applicants:

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5.
  • Minimum 2.0 GPA in each of the pre-requisite courses.
  • 90 or more credits / 6 or more quarters completed at time of application.
  • Complete all Early Admission prerequisites
